You gotta love winter for that! I'm sure that level 10 case and D14 have nothing to do with it either... lol

yeah... lol I thought about going to water but since somehow I doubt short of pure heavy duty anti-freeze it would freeze in the dead of winter

Be careful. If your CPU is that cold, your hard drive(s) likely won't like it much.

My CPU seemingly doesn't reflect temperatures below 29C, but at idle, it's generally around the range my hard drives are and a few degrees colder than my motherboard reports, so going on that, I'd say it was ~14C at that time. I remember putting it under load and it budged to ~32C if I remember right, which is around where it usually idles. So, it sounds like your temperatures are similar to what I had. Again, if so, watch the hard drives because they're probably cold and not liking it.

That was from leaving my window merely cracked for a few hours one cold night a year ago.

@phil awesome lol last year we had over 7 feet of snow fall between December and April and it dropped to -55 at one point and this winter is suppose to be worse so needless to say I have mixed feelings haha

@princessgarnet yes that has crossed my mind maybe I can make something to create a warm pocket for the drives or something

Overclock to your hearts content. For real fun, have the AC running, for some real winter fun. Run Furmark. Overclock your cellphone. The possibilities are endless.

well my theory on hard drives being too cold is basically this.
as metal gets colder it shrinks and when its hot it expands this is obviously common knowledge but if the platters were to get too cold they could theoretically cause corruption in the data because all the 1s and 0s are getting compressed plus the grease that they use for the reading head could potentially get too cold and begin to get stick or freeze causing it to jam
