ATI HD 5770 cooling question

Thread Starter
i have a HD 5770 with stock fan and i was wondering if i can set up a fan speed range. so if the card is idling at bout 31C the fan spins at 30% and if the card is at load with about 60C the fan spins at 80%.
thanks

absolutely, download msi afterburner, its a great utility for overclocking as well if you wanted to push your card a bit.

but it also has a user fan speed tool that allows you to designate what temps yield what speed

Yep, you can do just that with MSI Afterburner or similar software. Just use user-defined automatic fan control in the "fan" tab in settings to set your own fan profile.

thanks for the information, downloaded MSI afterburner and edit the fan settings. now the fan will change speeds when the GPU gets hot and not just stay at 30%.

Make sure you setup your own user profile and not the automatic setup.

ok now that i have got custom profiles with after burner i just have a couple of questions.
first what is are good idle and load temps for the 5770.
second what are some good fan speeds and the highest i should go to.
third what are some cooling options that won't require me to spend more then 40$ on.
at the moment my idle temps are about 35C and my load temps when playing most games at high is about 52C, are these god temps to be at.
also i am thinking about upgrading my GPU should i cross fire two 5770 or just buy a 6xxx series card
thanks

Don't exceed 80c,And you can run the stock fan on high if you want,But they are loud.
Now I just bought these coolers today and they work great:
