Dual 6790's or one bad ass

I don't know if I would get the same performance out of 2 mid grade cards in cross fire or one really good card.

I wouldn't suggest going for 6790's vs. another card as:
A. there is no upgrade path
B. 6790's aren't really "mid grade" cards (a 6850/70 is a mid grade card).

As far as performance as 6XXX series scale very well, in games that take advantage of Crossfire you're going to get about the same performance as a 6950/70, but with lower minimum frames.

Yea, I would climb out of the rubble of that below midgrade card if I had to money. Like said before there will be no upgrade path. Get one bad a card and then get a second later. Less wasted money.

i think you should get 1 high end card better than two mid end cards because lots of games have problems with crossfire and SLI.

One good card. No crossfire microstutter, no issues, more power efficient, better long term upgrade path

One single powerful card is the better option, and give you a decent upgrade path if required in the future.
