4.4GHz vs 4.5GHz - Page 2

If your @ 1.65 dram its prolly not the greatest of ideas
I've noticed lowering the DRAM volts from 1.65v to 1.60v helped with 124 BSOD.
If your @ 1.65 dram its prolly not the greatest of ideas. im beginning to think the 124 bsod is memory voltage related.

@ 1333mhz, i dnt think you would need to raise the VCCIO.
I would keep the Qpi/Vtt @ stock voltage or auto.

My board doesn't have VCCIO (or Systme Agent Voltage, I think that's how it's called in Gigabyte mobos). Anyway I think I'll go back to 4.4GHz @ 1.32v and lower my QPI/VTT back. I'll just hope that it doesn't BSOD after 3 hours in Prime.

I just fixed a dell pc with 16gb of ram and a 2600. It had 1600mhz and 4x4gb sticks. What was the VCCIO(Qpi/Vtt) set at?? 1.300v!! Why?? Maybe because Intel has told them the amount of voltage needed for 8gb,16gb,32gb configurations?? Stock or Auto is fine for 2x2gb sticks. 2x4gb should be no less than 1.125v. Even if a bunch of you are running stable on auto.

VCCIO is the QPi/Vtt

Interesting. I don't suppose you have a source for that, do you? I'm running 4x4, and hitting roadblocks for reasonable vcore. I just wont push past 4.5 ghz myself until i get better cooling, but I have a sneaky suspicion that increasing VCCIO will help me get my vcore down a bit more even at my current overclock.

But I digress. Not to hijack, but really I'm curious of your source. Thanks in advance!

My source was the POS Dell that I just went and worked on. Why would a manufacture like dell set such a value? I didn't mess with the setting. Just seen that it was like that. I know that all of us have been saying stay under 1.200v for 24/7. I know when you populate all ram slots, it's a lot harder on the IMC. When you populate 2 of 4 slots with 4gig sticks, you need more VCCIO/Qpi/Vtt for them to run stable. 1.150v is SAFE for sure. I wouldn't start any lower when using 4gig sticks. This is my preference and hasn't let me down on any of the systems I've built with SB. I have not had 1 out of 20 systems that I couldn't boot at 5ghz. Not all could manage the temps/volts that I would give it to someone like that, but they booted.

Go for the 4.4, you won't get any significant diffenrence performance gain other than more heat for your CPU.
