I can't watch the video atm, but the picture had me wondering why he was built with a "wifebeater shirt" on.

I loved the part where it opened that bottle, picked up the cup, and gently pour the beverage into the cup. Very human-like.

That looks simple but that is more difficult to program a robot to do.

Very impressive. The hardware seems to be there, I can't wait to see what some more programming can accomplish.

When I first saw a live presentation of ASIMO (Walt Disney Epcot) Honda stated their intentions are to design a robot that can "learn" from previous experiences, and displayed a short video of how they see ASIMO working in the future. The video shows ASIMO watching its owner washing a car, washing dishes, even changing oil if I recall correctly, and then doing that itself when the owner asked it to. Honda said they weren't quite at that stage yet. Something as simple as walking up a flight of stairs, pouring a cup, or even folding clothes are VERY complex calculations to put into a robot. We're definitely getting there. By the sound of that quote above, ASIMO can observe the movement of things (such as a fly or a paper flying around) and predict where it can catch the fly or paper. After a few experiences ASIMO will probably know firsthand how that particular object moves around and it can perform the action of catching it much quicker than its first time. While I can seriously see an "iRobot" scenario being POSSIBLE, I'm sure the corporations working on this technology know very well about the scare people have with that technology, and will test it in and out before making it available it to the public. I remember Honda saying the robot is expected to retail for ~$5,000-$10,000. If one insists on having it NOW, ASIMO can be leased for $150,000 a month.

Ewww, FWD! The S2000 is the only one out of those worth driving, and even that feels like you're sitting in a bathtub because the sides are so high. Not to mention, feels like driving a 6-ton truck until you finally get up to 7000+ RPMs...

Sorry, not a fan of Hondas, even with their VTEC specialty.

They should start sending some of these to Mars already.
