Ya the L3 definitely help to the tune of 5-15% in games.....

Your chip is fine though Im sure you get playable FPS with your clock speeds anyways.

Will do plan on that Sunday morning.....applaud.gif

Ok ill be around most likely or just a pm away. If ya have some questions for me ill be glad to try and assist as well. Make sure u turn llc (mine is actually on 50% to fight off voltage droop) off and cool n quiet. Phenoms like north bus but make sure u got enough voltage there. Mine is around 1.3 vor nb and 1.18 for htt (2180htt) I see ur ram is cl9 @1333 is that as low of latency u can get @1333? Just curious! Ill look over ur rig when I get off work tonight(will be 84 hours straight yikes) later bro

Nice job btw, it makes me think I can definitely push my chip further......weekend project!!!!

Check this link A****** you had wrong information i can prove that the 8 series phenoms had more temp limit. OFFICIALLY WRITEN BY AMD!. 125W TDP CPUS HAD 62'C OF MAX TEMP. NOT 95W ones!.

And Dstoler you have a lot more headroom for overclocking keep going. You can push your chip till 65~66'C. Cos your max temp limit is 71'C.

EDIT:I DID NOT WRITE THAT POST 3 POSTS UP! The one that says other retailers besides newegg and has the links to diff sites. Is my account hacked? That is so so so strange

WHOA man easy.. why the name calling. Dude was just lookin out for me. I appreciate the info man but u don't gotta go that route that was a lil xtreme. Anyways u say I have a lot of headroom left I imagine I should have to drop my nb down a bit if I go up anymore. 2700 has gotta be the max. I don't wan voltage on the cpu to get over 1.5v full load so I really don't think I could go too much more? I guess I need to stop bein a panzy and just do it huh?(name callins cool when ur talkin about urself) I did fry a 840 once but had cheap mobo and stock cooling and was a for sure noobie(there I go again) overclocker. But yea I would love to get to 4.4-4.5 ghz on a $95 cpu(cheaper now and highly recommended for budget builds, can't beat it as far as I'm concerned)

That's it. But you can push NB to 3GHz (most of Phenoms can handle it).

ok 20 minutes stable in blend test on prime 95 max temp is 58c and settings are as follows:

271x15.5= 4.2ghz exactly.
vcore =1.5v
cpu nb =2.710ghz @ 1.4v
nb=1.35v
htt=2.168ghz @1.2v
ram=1445mhz @ cl9 on 1.65 v

had it in windows at 4.35ghz and ran overdrive benchmark and scored my highest ever by quite a bit but crashed 8 minutes or so into blend. I really dont wanna put any more volts than 1.5v into it. Temps still have a little room but seems like every hundred mhz or so it takes quite a bit more voltage and not really worth it. It is running SO GOOD @ 4.2ghz right now im really thinking 24/7 for sure. Well Im in the club (just barely) haha thanks for all ur help guys!!

50 minutes stable now! w00t! ill keep testing it but its looking good. suhweet!!

Nope all cpus had temperature protection when they hit 90'C the chips automatically shutdowns and your overclocking is good 4200MHz it's awesome. Keep going. As i said you have 71'C of max temp ON "CORE" not cpu ^^. CPU temp is 7-10'C more than Core temp.
