problem with overclocking?Amd Athlon X2 5k+

Thread Starter
i recently bought a new motherboard its a AsRock A770DE+. I see alot of people out there able to overclock this processor to ~3.0ghz. I am trying to aim for 2.9ghz but i cant seem to even get it up to 2.8ghz.
i currently having it run at (213X13=2769.1mhz)
my ram is running at 395mhz which is rated for 400.
CPU is topping max to 130F via Prime95 stress.
HT=X5(1065) I have tried lowering this down to the 4x which was 800 something. i have kept everything in line as much as i can but if i go anything higher then these settings my system comes up with the halmacpi.dll which i know is a general hardware failure.i hve also tried setting my ram to 667 and still will do it is there any help anyone can offer me on this problem. i see no reason it shouldnt be able to go higher then this. the voltage core is also at 1.376volts which is the stock voltage.

The problem might not be related to the OCing, here's a thread with an issue similar to yours. You've pushed all the right buttons with HT 4x, decreased RAM speed and all, so if it doesn't work either the motherboard isn't capable of OCing (which can cause that error) or the problem is within Windows.

@Aramaki23 i have done alot of research for the ocing power of my cpu the people are getting to ~3ghz with stock voltage anything higher then they need to increase if for the stability so there is no need for the extra heat.

As above, up your VCore to 1.4-1.415. Every chip is different, and sometimes you'll need a hike in VCore to pass the wall.

All the research under the sun won't make your chip, or the power delivery and efficiency of your Motherboard, the same. There are alot of factors.

Keep an eye on your CPU temp, not core when testing.
