Best Air Cooler for i5 2500k under $50 - Page 2

the CM212+ with some GT AP15s in push pull would do it.

You should check our coolers for sale section and there could be some Megahalems or Venomous-X under $50 which would be a sweeter deal.

There's also the Corsair H60 over at TD for $55+FS if you want something that peforms like a highend aircooler --> http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7335485&sku=C13-2527&SRCCODE=LINKSHARE&cm_mmc_o=-ddCjC1bELltzywCjC-d2CjCdwwp&AffiliateID=lw9MynSeamY-p1iMsGko1D.2mmOG.WMKtw

Whatever you do, do NOT get the Coolermaster V8. The V6GT is miles better than the V8.

For right under $50, I would suggest the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Scythe-Mugen-Cooler-Model-SCMG-3000/dp/B005413NPO"]Scythe Mugen 3[/ame].

Honestly, if overclocking is planned, I would spend ~$30 more and get a top of the line like a Noctua nh-d14, or Thermalright Silver Arrow.

In other threads I had been warned to stay away from the H60 (since it's not really as good as a full liquid cooling system). I do like the thought of a liquid cooler... they look simple and clean. These Corsair coolers appear to be a nice all in one solution. Comparing the CM212+ and the H60... for about double the price... what would I gain temp wise?

I could keep the 212+, now that the order has been processed, to install in my current Q6600 rig which I'll be selling (the arctic cooling unit in it has started making some noise).

Honestly, the CM212+ is going to be the best bang for buck. Any increase in price is only going to yield around 10 degrees or so max.

If there is anyway you can come up with more money, find one in the For Sale section, or let people know with a want ad, you should get a Noctua NH-D14. I'm folding @ 4.8GHz 24/7.

Do they include fans?

All this talk of the Hyper 212+ did we forget the mention the Xiggy Dark Knight? This cooler is a fantastic low cost cooler that is in my opinion right their with the 212+ but looks better.
Actually, i thought i saw a deal today for it with $20 off for a grand total of $7/$8 buck's.

My bad, it was $18.96 shipped.

They each come with a TY-140. It is arguably the best 140mm fan on the market right now. It remains basically silent while moving a ton of air

Okay, so lets say I bump my budget to around $100 for the CPU cooler... what do I get? I've heard a ton about the Noctua NH-D14, it seems to be a top pick on this forum. With that said... I would actually prefer a smaller, less "ugly" cooler... idealy a simple H20 cooler. I put function before form, don't get me wrong... I'd just like the best of both worlds. Thanks!
