Personally Oblivion is IMO the best game of all times even with all it's bugs, glitches (it was common for it to crash) and it's insane requirements (for the time) to run it without much stuttering and lag... >.> It wasn't all that bad.

The only reason (besides those above, which aren't exactly bad things if you're just looking at the game), is because Oblivion was copying sorta say Tolkien world, it was more dumb friendly than morrowind (pointers on map, auto-scaling monsters for example), few cool things like spears were removed and it didn't feature the "unique" feeling that morrowind had... you know... I'm in completely different world.

If you played Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion I'm sure you understand how that feeling is awesome.

Now when Skyrim comes out, concerning the even stronger effect of consolitis, a lot of people will bad mouth it... they even started to for "nerfing" attributes, weapons aren't able to degrade anymore, everything regenerates faster and in battle etc. Like there won't be mods to put it "back to normal". I'm highly psyched for Skyrim and I'm sure it will be one of the most awesome games of all times... everything points to it (except the weird 6GB size).

As close as I could find. They started baseline Gamebryo and re-wrote it.

It doesn't really matter if it's DX9 , 10 or 11 Witcher 2 looks much better than most DX11 games and it's only using DX9.
Textures are the key and unfortunately it's multi platform so we're limited to what consoles can do.
To make PC version look better they would need two different texture packs which is not happening.
Graphics on TW2 are amazing, but Skyrim offers something that TW2 doesn't even try to: sandbox. Honestly, if graphics are that much of a problem to you, you can wait until some texture pack mods come out, but I don't think that graphics here will be a detriment to the game. People just want to push their hardware as hard as possible, and when that doesn't happen claim the game won't be worth their money. It's all a matter of what you want to do with your game.

The difference is that Morrowind came stock with every city being incredibly different at release and that the entire world was fantastical, instead of just the expansion pack portion. When you show up in Balmora and see the cube shaped adobe houses, head to Vivec with the metropolis pyramid and a floating island, then go to the Telvanni with their houses made out of giant trees. The creativity and imagination of just the setting blew everybody away. Then when you start up Oblivion, each city looks very very similar. Especially if you compared it to Morrowind, the setting became very dull.
