pc wont turn on help!

hey guys,

I have my pc for 1 year now, and everything worked fine. However today when i got back from work, my pc couldn't be turned on anymore. What could be the problem? Inside the case i can see the lights on the motherboard turned on (green)

I would test the psu, by, removing the 24Pin connector and then jumpering the green and a black wire to "jump" the psu, if it works then we can cross the PSU out.

so you press the power button and nothing happens? it might be a faulty physical switch try using a paperclip to connect the two pins on the motherboard that are normally connected to the power switch. if you have another PSU try that to rule it out of the question.

It's simply a way to see if your power supply turns on or not. Since you're getting green lights on your motherboard, I think your PSU must at least be somewhat functional.

Try taking out all but one stick of RAM and try turning it on then.

Also it might be the Memory modules. Make sure the processor is in correctly(if it worked before, it is.) And the cooler on it should be fine as well.

Here is what you do.

First of all unplug the PSU from the wall. And flip the switch on the PSU to OFF.

Then connect the green wire with a black wire as per the picture above.

You can then reconnect the PSU to the wall and then proceed to flip the switch on the PSU itself.

If the PSU turns on, you can use a multimeter to test the voltages on the yellow and green wires.

It the PSU doesn't turn on, it is most likely done.
