What type of cooler are you running on your processor if your on the stock 775 cooler i would recommend getting a better cooler before you overclock any

also that board dosent have much in the way of cooling so i would be carefull of temps on it

Hey, welcome to OCN.

Is start by filling in your system specs, you can do this by going to user cp at the top then locating add a system on the left

how much of a gain are you looking for? And why is your multiplier set so low? It is going to be tough with that low of a multiplier and ram. Set the multiplier back to stock and set FSB to 233 Mhz that will yield 2.9 GHz.

For cooling, best bang for buck has got to be the cooler master hyper 212+

the multis on the q8xxx series chips are rather low that is what it maxes out at he cant go any higher on the multi

OP with a good cooler you could get a good modest overclock out of that no problem just watch your voltages with that board as it dosnt have much in the way of cooling or heatsinks

I havent done much 775 overclocking but i would start by inching up the FSB by 5-10 at a time and test for stability each time you increase it.

Once you hit a wall (computer wont be stable any more) Inch and i mean inch up the voltage to get it stable (again each time testing for stability). Idk what the recommended voltage for the q8300 is but i would stay under 1.3v even with the 212+ with that board with a good cooler 3ghz should be easy with well under 1.3v i would even try and keep it under 1.25-1.26v
