Thread Starter
Hi all, new to overclocking.
So i got my vcore at 1.37 and am at 3.8Ghz
My temps are around 39c CPU and 40c CPU Core
Just did 5 passes of IBT, and came through with no errors, think i should push up to 4Ghz?

am doing another 5 passes while i wait for replies btw
post #2 of 23
sure try to go to 4ghz but beware I easily got to 3.8ghz but that last 200mhz took weeks to get stable.

Hey man, do it. Push push push! Go for 4.0ghz mate just watch your temps. You've got a good bored so hopefully you should be good.

Remember to try playing some games after overclocking, sometines you may seem stable but a few minutes in a game will make you BSOD

Best of luck mate

Yeah, 4GHz stable is harder than it sounds. I have gotten 3.87Ghz easily on 1.374Vcore, but anything more than that requires insane voltage to be stable. I';m talking like 1.5+, and I'm just not comfortable with that so I'm gonna stick with what I got and be happy. Besides, the only noticeable difference was about 1 gigaflop in LinX, so its not like it was a big improvement Oh, and I'm getting almost 40gigaflops, so that extra 1 isn't really noticable.

5 IBT passes really doesn't mean much. I would at least do 20 and watch your temps. I usually do 20-30 then run prime95 over night and if it doesn't fail I call it stable. 8-12 hours.

Absolutely try it. temps are fine as long as they don't hit 62C, and as far as voltage goes... don't be shy about it. 1.55V 24/7 is perfectly safe. It will mean high temps, but if you can manage that then you're good. Don't worry, you won't cook your chip unless you try 2.00V or something, and your motherboard is of course awesome, so OC away
