New 1090T

Thread Starter
Hi guys!

I just picked up this new 1090T yesterday! I have been fiddling around with it a bit and at the moment I have found some relatively nice clocks. I am currently Priming it at 4.125Ghz with 1.525v under load, max temps 45c!

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2088260

Also, I noticed something that worried me when I came back to my PC after a night of prime... Coretemp reported a maximum temp of 211c But given the lack of scorching, smoke or melted parts I am quite certain that it was just a sensor bug Especially since the logs only showed it changing to the max between the 10 second interval

It is, I've already got it, got a dodgy one that would crash out under BOINC and F@H loads and sent it back for RMA. Hopefully I should get a decent chip this time!

I will have more updates when I get home though, it's still priming, should have my new WC gear too tonight. It's a bit of a hot day too so we will see how stable it really is by tonight. This chip actually runs cooler at 4.12 and 1.525v than my 1055T did at 3.9 and 1.5v :/ Uses less power too! I think I can get more out of it, just have to disable my motherboards CPU over voltage warning

1.525 wow that is alot of voltage my 1090t runs 4ghz at 1.425 you are putting alot of voltage into that cpu you are also damaging it as well since you are putting .1v more then it would need. with a 990fx you should be able to hit 4ghz are 1.4v and 4.2 with 1.45v coretemps have always been buggy on amd systems it is more intended for intel systems i would say use hwmonitor for temps. i would say lower that fsb why are you not taking advantage of the multi if you are just gonna run the fsb taht high that is just plan weird. with that voltage you should be able to high the cpu max at least by 1.5v

Every chip is different.

And I don't think he's damaging it with 1.525v. Even 1.55v would be alright especially if the temps are down.

On the other hand though, I have mine running 4.1Ghz @ 1.475v. And 4.22Ghz at 1.5v.

Its important for you to know, that coretemp reads Thuban's temps wrong. It is about 10-12C too low. I usually set a delta of 12C on thuban systems. It is more accurate that way.

but why is he running stock multiplier i mean the next step up in the multi from 16 to 16.5. if he is gonna do that he should just run his 1055t and sell the 1090t no point if having that chip if he does it like that.

Not every CPU is the same, and the NB chipset will not change the overclock. I have an entire spreadsheet of different clocks and voltages that worked and this is the voltage I required for this speed. As for the FSB, I am running it at 250 because it removes a bottleneck that was otherwise there with 200mhz, increasing to 250 caused a noticeable jump in benchmark scores and it definitely added to the smoothness of the system.

Coretemp actually accurately picks up the AMD core temperature probe as I have confirmed with multiple other software tools, however I am using Coretemp because I can increase the temp reading by 10c with an offset so it is more accurate. Reading the socket temp from the motherboard gives a temp 5c cooler, leading me to believe that it is quite accurate.

Also, FYI the voltage is set as 1.6v in BIOS but there is a moderate vDroop with LLC set to 50%. I actually feel quite comfortable running the CPU at this voltage as the entire system, VRMs etc, is 3-5c cooler than my 1055T was at 1.425v due to it using less power as a result of the differences in the individual chips.

EDIT: It is actually set at 1.55v.... 1.6v is my setting for 4.25

Don't worry, I have a 10c offset applied

It is actually above stock multi, but the stock multi of a 1055t is 2x lower, which means I'm limited by max FSB, whereas on the 1090T I have more flexibility if I choose to do suicide runs or sub zero runs. It also means I can raise the FSB high enough to remove a bottleneck but keep it low enough that it adds too much extra heat or stress.

EDIT: Whoops! Double post!

fsb is for benchmark test like 3dmark11 and benchmarks like that. have you tested with anything rather then benchmarks and see any noticeable change in fps or load times. what bottle necks are you talking about.
