New laptop need some help.

Thread Starter
I was wondering if there was any reliable program to see if I need to update any of the drivers on my laptop. There's a ton of drivers and I'm just not sure if they're all up to date.

Thanks

Give windows update a refresh mate, generally sorts out my drivers for me. Also try stick clear of those driver scanning programs as their really clunky and most install spyware etc.

go to the laptop's website and they usually have some sort of automated driver checker.

I know for a fact that Thinkpads(possibly Ideapads as well) have System Update, that checks automatically for new drivers and installs them (think, Windows Update but for drivers).

If your specific laptop maker doesn't have anything automated then you're a bit SOL and you'll have to check each of the drivers version numbers one by one. If your laptop came out this year I wouldn't worry about it, unless you have random glitches (ie wifi sucks etc.).

edit: guy above me is kind of right - you can use Windows Update for drivers that your laptop maker doesn't provide. But Lenovo and HP(maybe Dell) tend to use proprietary drivers, at least for wi-fi and some other things. So check the laptop's site first.

Dont believe they do mate. Best thing to do is search the HP website and find a page with your laptops details/model number. There will generally be a "downloads" tab that will have the latest drivers/utilities/software etc for your machine. probably the best way mate
