ok background. got an asus N70SV laptop. been working wonderfully. one day i noticed that the system was only showing 3gb of ram when 4gb was installed. didn't think much of it at the time. then the system was blue screening multiple times a day and i couldn't duplicate the BSOD.

did test's after test's. all tests came out perfectly fine, except that now the bios was even showing 3gb of ram and not the 4gb of ram ( i will clarify this was on a 64bit OS)

checked in dxdiag to check on some video settings. noticed my video card, which is a dedicated video card with 1gb of vram was using almost 1800mb of vram. i thought this was kinda strange. and made sense as to where my extra gig of ram went.

then my hard drive started to fail. installed new hard drive, reinstalled windows. still getting BSOD's, replaced the ram, stile BSOD'S. after thinking for a bit maybe i can software overclock the voltages for the ram...nope

out of pure curiousity i downclocked my video card using nTune and now my bios and windows recognizes the full 4gb of ram in the system. and it hasn't BSOD'ed yet but i'm still testing and waiting to see.

this is truley strange to me and just boggles my mind. anyways just thought i would vent to people that would understand what i'm talking about and might have some insight as i'm the computer guy in my circle of people and they don't understand the computer stuff like OCN does

update: uninstalled nTune and the system is still seeing the full ram both in bios and windows. this is certainly mind boggling to me.
