Best Cooling for i5 2500k

Thread Starter
Alright, so I've gotten some opinions from the air cooling guys... anything from the 212+ to the NH-D14.... all good coolers.

I'd prefer something a little cleaner and less bulky... I'd looked at both the Corsair H's and Antec Kuhler's.

If you had $100 or so for a CPU cooling solution... what would you do?

i dont like the new Corsair watercooling systems, know a lot of people that have had them die. the Antec ones look pretty good though, exact copy of the old Corsair model.

id get that and replace the fans with something nice.

I was seriously considering the H from Corsair. It's extremely noisy on high setting but it performs very very well based on Tom's reviews from TimetoLiveCustoms.

I went for a rasa kit because I wanted to get into liquid cooling. But I would say go for the H100.

I used a H60 on my first i5 and Antech 920 on my most recent one. Both are very good coolers that is on par with the good air coolers. With speedstep on my my idle times go as low as 24 and I get around 75c~ running IBT on maximum. Difference between the two I had was only like ~2c

even though they have similar price points, the target markets are totally different. The rasa kit is far harder and time consuming to install. Not everyone wants that.

I always see people criticising the H100 based on the rasa comparison but I say the two products are incomparable. Pound for pound, the rasa is better, no doubt. But what does "better" mean to you?

Both products are excellent in their own right. There's no need to pick them based on price point if they are already near the same price anyway!

My H100 is pretty much overkill for this chip XD I don't even hit 70C folding.

This. If you really want the corsair closed loop save some money and get an H80. Or even stick with a cheaper air cooler like the CM 212+.
