EVGA GTX470 Max volts

Thread Starter
Hey everyone. This might have been asked before. But my search is coming back with Data base errors everytime I do a wide range search.

So I've got my GTX470 at 1.1v with a 40% OC. It's stable, and temps are at 61c during BF3 load @ 80% fan speed. So I feel confident I can push it a little further. For this, I will require more volts.

What is the Max volts the card can handle? I'm going for a 50% OC and I should be content with that till I decide to go water, instead of air.
I've seen people go as high as 1.175V. But its probably not safe 24/7. Get watercooling if you want to go higher. I wouldn't go past 1.125V myself, but 1.15V may be fine.

I was wondering about this exact topic today. I love OCN.

Sent by my Inspire 4g when I should be doing other things...

1.15v is max safe on air. Keep your temps as low as possible though, it'll get hot real quick on that reference cooler.

I've had mine folding on water at 1.2v in afterburner for a month or two now 24/7 folding I'll let you guys know when it blows up. PCB temp doesn't even hit 40c when card is close to 55c.

Dude those temperatures are INSANELY LOW for the clocks and volts you're talking about. I frankly cannot imagine you're actually looking at the GPU temperature here, you must be looking at the PCB temps.

I have SLI 470's w/about the best cooling you can have on air (TFII solid copper coolers), w/two empty spaces between cards, and 1.1V and 840MHz will push my cards to 94-95C while gaming w/o vsync (when usage is >95%), or running Heaven or the like.

Literally, there is absolutely no way you're at 61C w/OC's like that on SLI 470's. Your sensors must be broken, or you're looking at the wrong temp gauge.

Man how does your cards stay so cool? I am running 750/1500 @ 1.05v and my temps are about 68ish on both cards at 90 percent fans. I'm running at ultra settings but I don't know if that makes a difference.

1.087 is the SAFE 24/7 voltage as dictated by the MSI control. Anything over it is beyond spec.

I have very good cable management, I have 2 200mm fans for in/out flow, 3 120mm fans for inflow 2 of the 3 are blowing directly onto the GPU's third is a exhaust directly above the GPU's over the CPU. Have 2 120mm CPU coolers on my japanese cooler. And lastly I have 2 120mm rear exhaust fans.

My case is pretty much clear of any cables, so airflow is almost none restriceted. My sensors are fine, I know how to read GPU temps, both GPU-z MSI, EVGA prision, ALL read the same. Just cause you got cards that wanna explode don't mean mine want to! haha!

Forgot to add, friday I'll be buying 6 additional 120mm Corsair fans. My side panel will be a layer of inflow at the bottom/middle, and exhaust at the top. I'll also be raising my towers height and installing a 120mm inflow fan on the bottom of the case. Want a third 120mm exhaust on the rear, but I don't have the space. So I might rig up a addition 4 120mm fans into the front of my case.

If I do that, I'll have a a plastic devider above we're my 200mm inflow fan sits so the 4 120mm won't steal the none heated air before it has time to enter the case.

I'll post some pictures for yall thursday..Night US time. friday/sat my time.
