Best cooler for i5 2500k?

All in title, I was going to buy a Corsair H60, but then I heard a Coolermaster Hyper 212 is enough for an OCd i5 2500k, deeming the H60 overkill...so what's really a good cooler for this processor? The less money the better, but I'm willing to go up to around 80 bucks.

CM Hyper 212+ is more than enough to handle i5 2500K oc'd. If you want to maximize your budget, I'd say look at the Noctua. My friend's ocing his 2500k to 4.6Ghz @1.5V. Nice and stable.

You don't need a DH14 it's to big and bulky and honestly only get you maybe 3-5c cooler with a 2500k.

It depends on how much you want to OC your cpu. A 212+ can easily handle up to around 4.5GHz so long as you don't have a not so great chip that takes a lot of vcore. I don't see anything wrong going with something like an H60 though, nothing wrong with having cooler temps and in my opinion it looks a lot better then a huge heatsink.

eh..long as you're not planning on over 4.6 ghz OCing..hyper 212+ is just fine smile.gif i highly doubt it will hold a 2500k to safe temps @ 1.5v though.....find out how much the h80 is...never hurts to have a little more "oomph"

I won't maximize my budget if a Hyper 212 is more than enough though...so what's better? The 212+ or the 212 evo

212+ best bang for the buck cooler on the market

This.

Or if you want to spend a little more:

Agreed. About 1.4v with a 212+ and you're looking at around 75C while stress testing. And that's with a second fan.

Depends on what you are planning to do with the PC.
An H212+ is godlike for most apps.
