It's not that big of a deal really.

i dunno..i've seen some fairly good temps from those h80s-100s but..he said he's a gamer..4.5 max..i'd go hyper 212 all the way..i was running a hyper n520 up til 4.6 ghz..with decent temps..and the 212+ is better..i believe

Actually he said he needed a GOOD cooler and was willing to spend up to $80. There is no logic behind buying a $219 cpu and putting a $25 cooler ontop of it because in a year or so he will overclock it (everybody does) and by then he will need to replace either the garbage CM fans or have to get another cooler altogether.

I have a CM 212+ and i have noticed on 4.4ghz when running Intel burn test, it gets to 76 degrees then snaps back to 63.

The cycle goes on and on.

Presumably, this is normal.

But for BF3 for example - doesn't go over 66 degrees. XMAS!

Just as a side note the 212 EVO is newer and the heatsink part that makes contact is slightly improved over the 212+. For the extra $10 over the 212+ and your uses, a 212 EVO should be plenty. That's what I'm getting on my new rig.
