Setting up E-Mail from my Domain Name?

Thread Starter
I registered a domain name from GoDaddy and opted out of their awful e-mail plan.

I was wondering if there is a way I can still create e-mails to my domain?

For example, where I work, they must have hundreds of e-mails @theirdomain.com and I was wondering how to do that. Would I need to get an exchange server?

How does this new Google business mail work? Would I still need to buy e-mails through GoDaddy?

The tools offered through Google Apps Standard are good: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html

They recently changed it from free 50 users to 10 users though.

Here's the way I've done things:

1. Buy a domain from GoDaddy (or somewhere)
2. Get hosting.... there are some free ones out there (DIY or some other company), or you can go for a paid host. I've used host1free.com and they were decent. The host will give you some sort of control panel for managing the services you have installed.
3. Setup your domain name with your host's name servers.
4. Go to your server's control panel and create whatever email's you want!
