White noise problem

Thread Starter
Ever since I used my new Zalman Zm-1 microphone, I've been getting a lot of white noise. I can hear it through my headphones or speakers depending on whichever one is plugged in, and in my recordings. If I turn down my microphone boost, the white noise becomes less prevalent, but my voice volume goes with it.
I've put a ferrite core on the cord to no avail, so that was a waste of four bucks. Would I need a new sound card to fix my problem? I want to make sure that the onboard sound is the problem before I spend any more money.

EDIT: Here's an example of the hiss in one of my commentaries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9aKJggSTdU

That has to be earthing problem. My speakers get white noise after I shut down my system and just before power is totally cutoff(cpu lights switch off)
improving your PC's or cabinet's earthing should solve the problem..

hmmmmm............

I've searched this up on Google and found that the microphone has a very high sensitivity, especially to background noise. Don't know what earthing is, explain?
