c300, or m4 for os drive? - Page 2

I asked the same question a few weeks back, and the C300 was faster than the M4 if the m4 didnt have the 0009firmware. With the 0009 firmware the M4 would be a faster boot drive than the C300. As mentioned, faster yes, noticeable? Not exactly. I have both the M4 and the C300 running on different mobos, and the boot times were so quick on both, the seconds difference are just negligible.

Either is a good buy and honestly for your parents - just go for whatever 64GB drive is cheaper. The faster 4K random reads of the C300 probably won't be noticeable to them. Faster sequential writes do make a difference day to day for me - but unless they're constantly moving alot of files around I doubt they'd notice.

Thanks for all the opinions and input guys. I think I'm going to get them a used c300.


And yes Alice in chains is awesome. If you haven't already check out the mad season album above. It's a super band with layne staley on lead vocals.
