GTX 580 help - Page 2

using msi afterburner i have bumped the voltage up to 1.075. I ran a heaven benchmark (see below). It is much more stable but still not 100%, still all the same problems in BF3, just a lot less frequent. I will keep bumping the voltage up and see where i get. I ran heaven on the default setting, should i max them out? i know 1400x900 is **** res but i need a new monitor. how is my score considering my card and setting?

That is unfortunate. I suppose you could try the new beta drivers, they have been further optmiized or bf3, but the current drivers should be fine, so I doubt it will help.

I can try running Heaven 2.5 w/ those settings/res, and the core clock set to 815 so you have something to compare to.

yeah that would be helpful. I will go to 1.1 volts tomorrow after work and see if it seems stable. At this point i want to RMA the card in hopes i get a better chip but it would be a huge waste of time if the one i got was equally as bad.

whats the best way to use heaven? should i max out all settings (except resolution of course) ?

the people with a 900+ gtx 580 on less volts than im being forced to go to already make me sad frown.gif .

Must have missed the entire post about Zotac GTX 580 AMP cards being sold under voltaged on page 1 link? Did you read through those because the issue was solved at 1.100v. /shrugs

You never did acknowledge if this was your issue or not? I'll repost.

Here and here is two direct link from Zotac AMP ownesr in Zotac threads on the exact flickering issue your talking about. One even posted a video that will show you his problem is the exact as yours.

There is a Zotac BIOS issue that didn't provide enough voltage to the Zotac AMP editions. Looks like you might have to bump a bit higher to 1.1000v. If that's what it takes to stay stable. It won't hurt.

When I over clocked my max thus far @944Mhz I had to bump to 1.1250v to do it. Haven't fiddled with any more. That's my max at being stable with that voltage.

Here's anothe thread about the Zotac AMP Edition BIOS issue in the Nvidia threads.

Hope that helps point you in the right direction. teaching.gif

I bolded the ZOTAC AMP Edition text because this is a ZOTAC AMP only problem with the GTX 580's. None of the other GTX 580's have any problems and the voltage bump will cure your woes.

i did look at all the posts you linked and watched that video. mine is the amp2 edition, not sure if that makes a difference. i dont know enough to say if my issue is the exact same or not, my texture flashing is stuff far off in distance usually when im sniping, not giant things right in my face like in his video. I guess the idea of having to go to 1.1v before i even begin to overclock it myself upsets me. anyways... i do appreciate your help. i am trying 1.1v out now, will post results soon.

Isn't this crap? If a card is factory OC'd but isn't stable with the factory BIOS clocks and voltage, it's their darn fault. If it weren't for the costs associated with RMA (which is a big if) I would've done that. Manufacturers that pull this kind of stuff off can go eat it, especially when it's on non-reference enthusiast-targeted models like this one. No excuse for receiving a card like this IMHO.

You should be hitting 900's at 1.1v, not have to settle for a FUBAR 815 clock.
