Just bought a new DAS Keyboard - Page 3

yes... i love blues...

the woman kept complaining, so i got an ultimate S to replace my blues. then when i got it, she was like "oh, you got that because of me? i was used to the noise."

and then i beat her with a sack of sweet Valencia oranges.

but the browns are much quieter with the pads and rings. and they feel alright... just not as sexy on my fingers as blues.

i do it because i bottom out my keys. i LOVE the tactile feel. but i want the key to bottom out immediately after the tactile click. (since i am still a mechanical noob and i cant help but bottoming out the keys)

another plus is that the keys actually bounce back a little bit when bottomed out quickly, and i feel like it speeds up my typing a little bit, as well as makes it easier to double tap while playing games.

pads and rings is the ultimate it is the perfect combination... they are about 1.5mm thick together, and the distance of travel a key normally has after the actuation point is 2mm. two rings is too thick, and if you dont actually bottom out the key, it wont press, because you have to compress them slightly to get it to register. but since im trying to bottom out less, this is not an option. hope that made sense.

i tried blacks, didnt like the absence of the tactile feel. just felt... unimpressive.

i have the 1800 dpi razer and i love it. i dont use it anymore, because i had a problem with the scroll wheel and i ended up buying a g9x, but it is still my favorite shape for a mouse. the g9x feels awkward in comparison. its really hard to pick up too. theres just not a comfortable way to lift it off of the mouse pad.

yeah, but i had trouble finding a board with them that i liked. they dont seem to be used very often. plus, im really liking the das ultimate. its forcing me to learn the numbers and symbols, which i never really memorized.

with the clears, is the total key travel less than the other switches? or is the tactile point just pushed back more towards the PCB?

I also have the Das Silent, and it feels so much better than membrane boards. Instead of either just mush, or a rock-hard feel at the top that suddenly gives away and then you're bottomed out, it's a smooth keypress with a slight bump about 1/3 of the way down. I love my keyboard, it's miles better than any rubber dome.

Im not too sure, but according to some people, they are harder to bottom out on and have a bit more tacticleness than browns.
