My brush with death with my 870A-UD3 by my side

This just happened, and to clarify the title, death as in me, the person. I was in the process of reconnecting everything after changing fans on my cpu cooler. Everything was going swimmingly, until I plugged the power in. I have a USB 3.0 cable that I had yet to connect to the drive, it was sitting on top of the case and while I was working it fell down on the side of the case, touching it just right to cause a massive series of loud sparks right beside my head, literally weld the USB port into the mobo, and this.

So soon as it happened, I thought with out question my mobo was literally toast. But to my love and amazement, she boots fine. Not to mention a 10C drop due to my new fan

But on a serious note if it had enough current to weld the metal together I could have been seriously hurt if I was in the crossfire. So whats to blame? Surely it's my fault, but what in the world did I do

it would have just given you a little wake-up call, but nothing too bad

sounds like you were a little excited getting that fan going and just got a step ahead of yourself. happens allllll the time in this hobby (at least for me). glad everything worked out though

WOOT new OCN look. By the way everyone, I check the plug my computer was plugged into. It was hot grounded, essentially putting 120V to the outside of my case, so YEAH it could have killed me
