Product Database Contest - $1,500 in Prizes!

Thread Starter
One of the most exciting features on the site is our shared product database. Every product added by members can be symbolically linked to products added by other members. This allows for some pretty amazing things down the road. Here are just a few.

· Find members with similar rigs / who own a specific product
· Overlay performance with price to generate buyers guides that are populated with real world data

We need your help to make this happen sooner than later. We are offering the chance to win one of the following prizes:

$200
$100
$100

How to enter:
Visit http://www.overclock.net/products/add/search and accurately submit as many products as you can THAT ARE NOT already in the database.

After doing so, please post in this thread to let us know to look you up in the database. You can continue adding more products after that as well that will continue to add to your tally.

How it works:
Each product you enter will get you an extra chance at winning one of the prizes. You must enter only relevant products with correct information that do not already exist in the database.

Winners will be selected over the course of the next two weeks. Get your submissions in a.s.a.p.!

Good luck!

This seemed like the most relevant area to write this but it was just something that popped into my mind when I read this.

After looking at the few database entries there are already it seems that what we're compiling has been done already(multiple times over) by other tech related web sites. HWBOT.org, newegg, tigerdirect; all have similar databases of information.

Although I love the idea of having our own community create it, and how amazing it is to me to see how fast this database will fill up I'm just wondering what differs it from those already in existence? What if you could simply reach out to Newegg and tell them we're looking at putting up a database. If they'll lend us most of theirs we'll put a little "Powered by Newegg" logo in the bottom right hand corner, we may even charge them to display said logo on the right hand corner while still benefiting from their awesome database.

Just the first thing that came to my mind, feel free to riddle this post with holes whomever comes after me.

Perhaps someone else will have better chances. My rig is all there I think.
Will not be much of a contest here:p

One step ahead of ya. smile.gif The source of almost all existing product information in the database is direct from Newegg.

My RAM kit isn't in the database when I was building my rig. At least not the red, 8gb, 1600mhz version.

This, how do we get to the database?
Just added my motherboard: ASUS P7P55D PRO. I'll continue to add items as I see fit and edit my post with them. thumb.gif
EDIT: Is there any connection between Product Database and the new Rig Builder? It would be awesome to be able to add the items you're missing from "Product Match" of the Rig Build rolleyes.gif
EDIT2: Oooh, it does add them, just not instantly thumb.gif. I added some more items, here's the list: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/3690644
