Phen II 965 BE 4.4 Stable!

Thread Starter
after 3 or 4 days of overclocking with my cpu trying to push for 4.5 and failing, so I tried for 4.4, after thinking I couldn't do that I finally figured out what my max on just about everything with my rig I found a multiplier and FSB combo that allowed me to go hit 4.4 stable. I know people suggest 12+ hours of prime 95 to confirm stability but almost 8 hours was good enough for me and I needed to get a little gaming in.

While trying to hit 4.4 I was benching cpu speed through vantage to see the performance difference, most of the 4.4 overclocks were stable enough to not bsod but fail 1 or 2 cores on prime after about 10-30 minutes of stressing. I didn't screenshot the results because the amount I did was just to many to upload for any reasoning but I did write them down.

3D Mark Vantage CPU Scores:
STOCK EVERYTHING: 3D Mark Vantage Score = 10836
200 X 22 = 4400mhz (3D Mark Vantage Score = 14424) Stock Everything (multiplier increase only)
220 X 20 = 4440mhz (3D Mark Vantage Score = 14499) NB Freq x10 = 2200, Ram 4x @ 880mhz stock timing (5-5-5-15 2T)
232 X 19 = 4408mhz (3D Mark Vantage Score = 14500) NB Freq x10 = 2320, Ram 4x @ 928mhz stock timing(5-5-5-15 2T)
252 x 17.5 = 4410mhz (3D Mark Vantage Score = 14600) NB Freq x10 = 2520, Ram x3 @ 840mhz stock timing(5-5-5-15 2T) (Very unstable)
252 x 17.5 = 4410mhz (3D mark Vantage Score = 14313) NB Freq x9 = 2268, Ram x3 @ 840mhz timing(6-6-6-18 2T) (my attempt at making it more stable.)

Current stable overclock:
245 x 18 = 4410mhz (3D Mark Vantage Score = 14461) NB Feq X9 = 2205, Ram x3 @ 815mhz stock timing(5-5-5-15 2T)

My Max's

NB Freq: 2450mhz
HT Link: 2300mhz
FSB: 255mhz+
Ram: 870mhz

Not much of a big difference between just using only the multiplier and using the FSB @ 245 x 18. Makes me wondering what the cause of this would be, my guess is the NB freq @ 2205.

Any idea's or suggestions to help make my overclock better would be great!

I have my Antec Lanboy Air modded so I can have my Rad on top of my case since there isn't enough room inside for it, the Fan controller stopped working a few days ago and I guess I got a bad H100 that I ordered from newegg about a week and a half ago. They did a recall on the H100 I currently have due to faulty fan controller back in mid Oct so I'm in the process of RMA'ing it. I'm Currently using 4, 3 speed fans from my old Antec 900 case for push/pull. My Gpu fan is louder then all 9 of my case fans combined.

Okay i dont think myn is faulty as Speedfan tells me the fans are running at around 2000-2200RPM which is correct, my temps never go about 41, so am guessing my fans never go above 2200RPM as a result.

My GPU is the loudest fan in my case by a long way

Iv tried upping my NB but the second I go past about 2500 I go unstable and I can only raise or decrease it by 1x at a time sadly. I blame my cheap motherboard, when I toss this thing and go for a asus crosshair things should get interesting needless to say.

Also my max voltage setting for my NB is only 1.4v.

I have a dedicated fan for it ATM. If it catchs fire then I have even more of a reason to upgrade.
