Does the machine still have to work?

I've got a few rigs downstairs. One is a 486SX. The other two have Pentium IIs. I haven't had the time to find out what the other parts are.

The 486SX no longer works. Think my dad ended up scrapping the dead PSU for it's old fan. I may have taken out some of the old ISA expansion cards, but I don't remember where I put them.

WOW, I DO love old computers, but I'm currently on NO budget at all, so I can't get a old computer

I plan on getting either a old Macintosh Classic, or any other older computer that you guys reccomend.

(I really like the Macintosh Classic, idk why, lol)

My first real working computer was a ThinkPad 560 with 40MB of RAM, a 2GB hard drive, Pentium I @ 133MHz, and Windows 98. I still have it, and it's in perfect working condition.

My ThinkPad is amazingly thin and light, considering the fact that it's from 1997 or so. It's thinner and lighter than a decent amount of the newer laptops out there right now.

I also had a desktop computer with the following specs:

16MB RAM

1GB HDD

80486 @ 100MHz

Windows 95

I have lots of old stuff around but I'll post ones I still am using after I give honorable mention to my all time favorite.that has finally been retired after almost 10 years of service.. RIP old friend

Because I build my own systems I don't have easy references you can lookup but here's the seriously modded description.

Asus P3-BF Slot 1 440BX motherboard w/ skt 370 Slotket

1.4GHz PIII OC'd to 1.8GHz ! (originally Celey 300)

SIG PCI ATA-133 Accelerator

XFX GeForce 6600GT AGP^

^Bios modded with "modbin" to lock AGP speed even when using non-stock FSB

This rig would play Doom3/Quake4 and GTA3 at way more than just acceptable rates.
