RHK will your board POST if you set the memory multiplier to 3 instead of 4? Mine's failing to do it and apparently this may be a running problem with the BIOS, if you could test it that would be great.

I did a little testing on HT, to get it stable I only had to back down my overclock about 30MHz (your results may vary, I think I got a pretty good chip) but power consumption with 8 cores loaded rose about 10-15W, which made some extra heat.

I was loading at around 61W, it went to ~75 at 3.2GHz.

How are you getting that hot on the stock HSF? are you sure you have it on correctly? (I load at 58 OC'd in ~70-75F ambient)

actually, im not sure that I have it on correctly. Probably air bubbles trapped in there, as i put the sink on, pulled it off, then stuck it back on again. Sadness.

oh well! I have my lapping kit, I have my thermal grease shipped from one state over, so i should be lapping and TRUEing by mondayuesday

Update here: MSI sent me a new BIOS so I can unlink my RAM from the 4x multi and manually adjust uncore frequency, as well as making 21x multi manually selectable. I'll have to play with this a bit but I'll probably still be limited by the heatsink.
