Figured I would start some discussion here about these cards. I have an EVGA 260 the second gen with the smaller 55nm die. It was an overclocked model which I believe was 626 mhz when I bought it oc'd at the factory from 576. Since I got it I removed the heatsink and replaced their paste with arctic silver in a very very very light coating on that gigantic chip. I used a credit card cut up into a variety of widths and angle bends for application which makes it easy to evenly spread. I have taken the card up from 626 mhz core, 1350 shader, 1053mhz memory clock and 40% fan, temps of 46 idle, 58 load, to 696mhz, 1500 shader, 1130 memory clock w/ 75% fan 48 idle 68 load. I did a bench with 3dmark vantage and got something like 10345 or so not too amazing compared to some. I combined a 9800 gt for physx since my other comp's PSU failed, and its crappier but still overclockable xms3 corsair memory. I didnt notice much difference except on games like bioshock 2.

Mine is stable at 783/1225/1566. Aftermarket cooling (Arctic Cooling GTX Pro) and MX-3 thermal paste.

Waiting on some new vrm heatsinks before I try to push it further, since it doesn't seem to be stable at any higher clocks. VRM heatsinks may not make a difference, but it's worth trying anyway.

Plus, heatsinks are always good XD

Hey all am running dual 260's (1-65 & 1-55) using A/C Accelero Xtreme GTXpro coolers on both. Makes a really tight fit in SLI, but works.. am only pushing to 640-ish on core so far but will work on it more when i'm done trying to hit 3.8 stable on my PII 940BE
