Houston, is there a problem ??

Watcha tekkies, need some help please

I have a brand new recently installed Caviar Green 2TB 6Gbps HDD connected to Sata III

I have in the last week or so installed 400GB of files on to it, consisting of everything possible. Despite this being a super fast drive, when I click to open it, it hangs, I get the spinning blue symbol for about 5 seconds, then it opens. I then get same on any folder I open within the drive, but once the folders are open, I can close & open again instantly

Is there a fault ? should I remove & reinstall everything or is this normal on such a large HDD as Ive not had one over 300GB in the past

Cheers

Sounds normal to me. Happens some times with my Cavier Black and I think my TB drives and Cavier green 1.5 tb drives.

If its a storage drive then it wont be running unless you need the files. The 5 seconds or so is probably the drive turning on the motors and spinning up the drive. Shouldent be anything to worry about though.

You may be able to change how long it waits before spinning down, if its a drive you use frequently you can make it a longer time. If not, sounds normal for a green drive, I know mine spins down and when I need it there is a lag after the first request to the drive.
