We just received word that Valve’s download service Steam has been hacked and credit card information has potentially been accessed. While the steam forums were offline due to defacing this is a hacking of the actual Steam service.

Read about this. From what I've heard, Gabe announced that the credit cards in fact were not accessed, however, keep tabs of your statements & change your passwords to ensure you're safe.

Why? Getting your funds back when paying by a credit card is just as easy, if not easier. I have money returned to me for fraudulent charges within 1-2 business days on my debit card (Mastercard)

wonder how this would effect those of us with steam guard fully active ... i guess its still best to change passwords even though they only got "hashed and salted" passwords

Yeah I know but I like the peice of mind I get with paypal.

At the end all I hope is no one gets any fraudulent charges and loss of their account,

I had my steam account hacked this time last year lost it for a month luckly got it back before the steam sales but even better the person who hacked it thought after 2 weeks it was his and bought 4 games on the account which I can say I enjoy playing thumb.gif
