WTB FPS coach ><

Grabbed BF3 when it first came out and steadily seems like I'm getting worse.

So apparently playing WoW for 6 years has made me lose all my touch with FPS games (and it seems RTSs too....can't even beat All In mission in SC2 and I used to be ranked 63rd in ladder in original SC at age 9). Last FPS I played regularly was way back in the days of CS and BF 1942. I was doing what I consider pretty good in the beta but now in the live version I'm steadily getting worse and worse it seems. I know part of it is my level is still fairly low and thats not helping any (just don't have a ton of time to play). Maybe theres just some major things I'm missing or maybe I just no longer have enough awareness to keep up with everyone in this game.

Any big tips that might help me out? I just want some honest advice including if you just honeslyt think I'll prolly never be good at FPSes again.

My username on BF3 is same as it is here if you want to look at my stats.

Old WoW player.

Get CoD, spray, camp and throw grenades..How hard is that ? tongue.gif

The thing that really helped me was getting a new DPI / sensivity settings on my DeathAdder.

Try playing with these settings and get used to it and just help your team in BF3, go Assault and revive / give health and kill them all!

what are you having trouble with specifically?
By looking at your stats, you need to stop camping and stop using the Recon kit until you get better. Switch to Assault on most maps and Engineer on maps that are heavy on vehicles. For any FPS, I say that you should never stop moving. Keep pushing towards the objective because that's how you get points and that's where the enemies are. Lastly, learn the maps. Learn the choke points and where it's most likely to encounter the enemy so that you are prepared to take them down.

If you want, add me to battlelog (same name as here) and join my squad. Also, if your over 18, PM me for our clan info. and you can jump in our teamspeak.

Well lets see I've tried recon getting to a high point and I do decently sometimes but there's not alot of spots in any of the maps where I can safely camp and sit in my scope without some sneaking up behind me and knifing me. Tried doing assault sticking with team mates and I just plain suck at run and gun....get too jumpy and can't aim worth a crap. Tried sensitivity settings and found one that seems to work fine for recon but doesn't help me too much. About the only thing I've really seemed to excel at is going eng on big maps and just taking out helis. Sometimes I do seem to have some decent nights in the game but more often than not it's spawn and 15 seconds later some guy with a big ass assualt gun just gets me at long range before I can even scope on him >< All in all I seem to be a bit better in the wide open maps and half of the time get no kills in stuff like metro and other tunnel maps. I have found that I do fairly well with vehicles too. Just wish I could rock at all roles especially assault like I used to in CS.

Your best bet IMO, is to play TDM and learn the basics of shooting the rifles in this game. Once you've learned the basics on how to control the recoil I can promise you will be a better player, as a TDM will make you more aware of your surroundings and get your aim and reaction up to par. This promotes very little teamwork, but you seem to really need to be able to focus on aim/reaction/awareness. Once you have played a few games and under stand the basic mechanics, throw yourself in a conquest/rush server. Rush conquest requires teamwork period, but without good reaction and awareness you'll still fail as a team player.

I hope you're kidding, I've yet to see a good on mortars as they're beyond weak. If you're team is constantly getting hit by mortars you guys need to push them and kill the guy on the mortars.

Try playin some unranked if the stats bother you alot and just get used to the classes. Test different load outs and see what you like best. That way you can enjoy learning how to play the way you want without being penalized
