My thoughts - Page 5

The widescreen option is MUCH nicer! I think I forgot I originally set that on the old site.. It actually makes everything look better to me. In widescreen the signatures look better to me, I think it because it is closer to what I was used to redface.gif

I shall set that preference, and I shall report it as a bug!

Thanks for reading! I was rather surprised to see you personally respond to my post- its an awesome feeling to have a head admin who interacts with the average users! thumb.gif Thank YOU!

- A user since 2006, who is for the most part enjoying the change. (Assuming it speeds up as things finish migration, as has been noted elsewhere I think)

PS: In widescreen and some options tweaked the contrast is MUCH nicer. (Unless something changed at the same time as I was messing with things)

It feels as if I've moved to a different country. I knew that me being on OCN wouldn't last forever. This might be that time to bid farewell. frown.gif

Plus, it seems I've lost 5 rep. Not liking this change at all. The old layout was much more clean. The new one is a mess.

Thats a massive forum, runs fine on VB.Your problem is that you wanted to "vertically integrate the site" which sound great on paper. the problem is that it performs like poorly written, buggy code. Because its poorly written, performance heavy, java script code. Java script isn't a platform, its a add on like flash, supposed to be used to do thing that don't make sense in html. VB work.

I am seeing 20-40% spikes just scrolling the page. Thats atrocious !

Now you can ignore me input, thats your choice. but when your user base just up and leaves in droves " and they will"

I'll say I told ya so.

As admin told me, check your options. Also, REP will come back.

Give us a few days buddy smile.gif

We just launched not too many hours ago. Admin has also made clear that the communities happiness is what is most important to him, so please be patient.

Also, I suggest you head over to the Launch Discussion subforum and talk about what you don't like / any issues you have.

takes too much time to scroll through the front page forum listings. home page should be very quick to navigate and to-the-point. i liked the old layout a lot better in that regard, but everything else seems to be an improvement

There is no way we are going to be able to please everyone. I unfortunately have to accept this. But you can bet on the fact that we will do everything we can to take different perspectives into account. The team in the sandbox witnessed this first hand. Over two months, the site became exponentially better because of their feedback  and the support of the Huddler Devs

I completely understand this, but I've had 2 sites I frequent go over major revamps, and I tried to give them a chance, but the opinions I had of both sites on the first day stuck. I still visit those same sites every once in a while and cringe at how different they look. Not that I'm against change or anything, but I don't see a need in changing something that isn't broke, unless it comes to PC hardware... you can't change hardware enough! So I'll obviously give the new site it's fair chance, and I'll keep coming back to check out any changes that come over the next few days/weeks, but as of now, I do not see myself frequenting the site even half as much as I used to. It doesn't have the same vibe and feel to me. If there are plenty of people satisfied with how things are, then so be it, I won't be the annoying person begging and demanding changes, because you cannot please everyone, there isn't a single thing in the entire universe that can please everyone.

I'm simply stating that for me, there are too many things I dislike to frequent the site anywhere near the same, and it's possible I'll rarely even come to the site anymore. This is not a threat or anything, because no single person matters that much to change a website or forum, no matter how much some angry people out there think that they matter and that making the threat to never come back will spark some huge revolution or something. I'm hoping some changes come that will make me feel better about the site, and that enough people dislike the coloring scheme to get it changed. OCN admins are pretty great for the most part (though I have issues with some), so I'm hopeful for the future.

The rep loss is only temporary. Happy to chat with you about your issues with the design but it sounds like you have already made your mind up :( Best wishes in whatever you decide.

I am not sure what you are saying :) I know there are a lot of large VB sites out there. I am saying there is a fork in the road. We (and others) were not as strong of believers in VB4. VB3 is EOL. We needed to make a change as mentioned.

This is our first day so I would only hope the judgement would be a little more restrained.

In terms of load, as mentioned, we are looking into it. It's not something that is acceptable. We all agree on that. Why ignore what I have said in this thread already about this subject?

Please accept that I want to help - not hurt. It makes no sense for the latter.
