This is our first day so I would only hope the judgement would be a little more restrained.

In terms of load, as mentioned, we are looking into it. It's not something that is acceptable. We all agree on that. Why ignore what I have said in this thread already about this subject?

Please accept that I want to help - not hurt. It makes no sense for the latter.

This will never be less demanding of cpu power then it is, I have already been through this transition once. I want you to talk to Craig Anderton At harmony Central.

You know what, they rolled this software off the site, it was that bad. Users left in droves.

Get rid of this forum software, move to vb4 and hum happily along.

Did you try the quicknav in main navigation bar? :) It should be super fast to get to a specific destination (not sure that's what you are looking to do in this instance). Also, you can minimize almost everything on the homepage. To turn off the content module, just check your preferences. For the rest, you can maximize and minimize each box like you could on the old site :)

To designate a subscribed thread? I think it's now done in a different way (or is planned to be? It's getting late and all of the info is fading quickly from my head).

Take it as a compliment- it means a lot of people REALLY loved being on OCN, and they are reacting violently at any perceived real or imaginary threat to them accessing it!

I personally posted quickly without messing in options enough, which you pointed out to me...... redface.gif

We love OCN and you!! I am sure things will calm down. (Just another useless appreciation post, but thank you!)

You can't please everyone, but you can certainly do your best to make most happy. That's all there is to it smile.gif

I think that button links you to your unread post, But what im trying to say is, there is no indication in the new layout that you have read the post in a thread, like in the old forum.

We have many users who don't have this spike. Have a look in the thread about the topic. It's on the list and is being investigated.

This is not our first walk in the park. We have chatted with many of the top webmasters out there. All have different stories. Happy to chat with anyone of course - but I don't want you to think/imply a lack of perspective.

Your absolute/I told you so perspective may be right at times, but I am not sure it's coming off as helpful as you are trying to be. Happy to chat with humble words.

Thanks a lot :) That means a lot to me :) We love this community as much as many of the members do. That's why we started it in 2004. We love this topic.

I am happy and expect to have to help out in rationalizing some of these changes. We did as much as we could (2 years dev, 2 month sandbox with hundreds etc) to prep for this. We believe in the Overclocker's spirit.

Let me put that on my list. "How are read threads differentiated between unread threads?" I knew this answer but sleep has not been my friend lately. I think it's time to call it a night very shortly. So if I don't respond to a reply tonight, it's nothing personal. :)

I've been through this exact software transition before as a user. It sucked. From the same software to the same software. PLEASE talk with Craig Anderton at Harmony Central. He's already done this before to. He made this change, it was so successful, it failed.

That slow load/ poor rendering? was confirmed by lots of people. I just happen to have a easy to eye ball activity monitor open all the time. I can see cpu usage spiking every time I scroll down the page. I've not see a forum this heavy before.

BTW Harmony Central is one of the largest forum based site on the web, If you didn't talk them, you obviously didn't talk to enough people.

the shazam tags I remember dearly. Thats back when they were pushing this as a mostly css solution back in 2008 or so. It sucked then to.
