Looking for some upgrade advice.

I want to stay at 700-725 or less for new cpu , mobo , ram , and gpu.

CPU: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354589
GPU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102929
RAM:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231430
MOBO:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128506

I am going to mostly use it for BF3. Maybe skyrim and MW3.

The rig in my sig , space heater is a couple years old and it can play BF3 , but barely I can tell its struggling. I might just buy the GPU first , then after christmas , get the rest of the items in my list. I was wondering if these all will be compatible , and overclockable. I am going to OC it when it gets to be outdated , like I do now with my current rig.

Also , wondering about a $50 or less heatsink/fan combo for the sandybridge. Is xigmatech still any good? Thanks.

And will my corsair 650tx be enough ponies to run upgraded components?

The build looks great, however I would steer away from sapphire for the card, I have not had the best experience with their customer support.

Who is a reputable ATI/AMD chipset card manufacturer? Also would the 560 Ti serve me well , or are they both about even for the price range?

Cant decide between the Gigabyte or ASrock.

asrock e4g3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157264
gigabyte ud3p http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128506
gigabyte ud4 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128507

How important are the VRM phases for Overclocking , and what does it mean? is having 4 or more less going to make a huge difference?

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AoXai57oo6AGdHJNSXNXVUNqbHZoTlZjblV2cVJUTlE&w=291&h=2175

The ASrock has 8phases
The UD4 has 16 phases
The UD3P has 12 phases

And for a video card choice , do I need a card with more then 1-1.5gb ram if I never plan on sli/xf and I dont plan on going over a 1920 rez.?

More power phases is generally a really good thing for OC'ing. It means the mobo is able to deliver more juice to the CPU/RAM effectively and efficiently, although it shouldn't make that much of a major difference if you're not going for really high overclocks. Personally, I've always liked the Gigabyte boards with more power phases, as I like that assurance and a bit more headroom when OC'ing.

Bottom line is that it shouldn't matter too much unless you're planning on quite some overclocks.

Disagree, I have positive experience with their products and support. Not so much with XFX though.

Have you considered ASUS for motherboard? Do you need 2 way SLI/CF or 3 way SLI/CF?

For single GPU go with ASRock Z68 Pro3.
For 2 way SLI/CF stay cheap and go for ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3.
For 3 way SLI/CF you need to up your budget.

Power phase wise unless you OC CPU above 4.3 GHz should you worry. Anything more than 8 phases is not beneficial other than lower heat output (and LN2 OC).

Stick with Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2GB, it is faster than 560 Ti. Most importantly BF3 needs higher VRAM (560 Ti does have 2GB variant, but too expensive for my taste though).

For single GPU setup no need to upgrade your PSU, even after CPU OC (below 4.5 GHz). HSF wise stick with Hyper 212+/EVO. Xigmatech/Corsair A70 is good if you can find them around Hyper 212 price point (+/- $10).

Thank you guys for your input , looks like the ASRock z68 E3G3 for now.

Is there a speadsheet/graph/poll on the 6950 2gb cards being unlocked into 6970's anywhere? The cards that can be unlocked , have the best percentages , and the cards that absolutely cant be unlocked? From what ive gathered , the sapphire toxic and sapphire dirt3 and the best candidates for an unlock. Everything else is kind of unclear though. Thank you again.

and for System Memory , much improvement 8gb over 4gb for todays games? Also if I plan on OCing , is 4x2gb or 2x4gb better? or no difference either way?
EDIT: After doing some research is seems to be 2 stick are optimal for OC , everyday use. And that 2x2gb would be optimal for gaming , but doesnt leave much upgrade room in the future , so probably 2x4gb would be better.

Correct, 2 RAM sticks is better than 4 RAM sticks. Easier on OC and memory controller.

Unlocking wise 6950 Toxic is the way to go, most have success with 6950 Dirt 3 too (though Toxic still has a higher unlocking rate).
