Rate my build :p

Do you guys think anything is wrong with this build? Or should anything be added? I would like to save money, but I dont mind paying that much for significantly better performance. So if you guys think there's a red flag somewhere within the build or I'm paying too much for a certain part, please tell me. Thanks guys smile.gif

Nice build!

If the rig is for gaming, i'd suggest looking into the Western Digital Caviar black 2tb drives. I have a 1tb myself and they're really good. Also if you want the luxury of being able to watch Blu-Ray movies on your pc, try looking into a Blu-Ray reader/writer.

My two cents smile.gif
That's a pretty solid build, and I don't see any obvious issues other then the hard drive price gouging going on right now. Unfortunately, you can't do anything about that. wink.gif

Just make sure you also pick up some zip ties and zip tie mounts to really help with wire management. thumb.gif

EDIT: The link for your motherboard is wrong. You have listed it as an ASRock Extreme 4 gen 3, but the price you put and link go with the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z.

You could get a less powerful Corsair PSU and still have some bresthing room.

Also consider a different HDD like a WD Black or Samsung F3.

Build looks great imo.

Are 2 6970s better than a single 580? I don't know much about ATI cards, and don't they not have PhysX? Which is like...good? tongue.gif
post #9 of 19
I think there are benchmarks showing 2x 6970s slightly ahead of a single gtx580 in performance in some tests and probably the 580 winning in some others...and yes amd does not have physx even thou there are not many games out there today that even support it. I still think physx is a marketing scheme by nvidia.

Anyway I am going to either upgrade to a gtx580 classified or wait until amd 7series and see what the 7970 and 7990 are like.. tongue.gif

Either choice you make is good ...6970s are good cards and so are 580s. thumb.gif

i would go with a evga card with product code serial number ending in -AR which means lifetime warrenty and possible later step upgrade program... instead of msi lighting which does not have lifetime warrenty.

like this 3gb gtx 580
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130655

or a 1.5gb one ...you might not need the 3gb memory if your using only 1 screen thats smaller than 30inchs.. and save a few bucks
