What type of fan is in a stock 8800 GT circa 2008?

What type of fan is in a stock 8800 GT circa 2008?

Let me make this clear:

I am not looking to replace the cooler with an aftermarket cooler. I am looking to replace only the fan itself.

I already know the following:
  • ...that I can buy a broken 8800 GT on eBay;
  • ...that I can buy an after market cooler assembly on newegg; and
  • ...that I can buy an entire working 8800 GT for $35 to $40 on eBay used.

If your answer looks like one of the three points above, I appreciate your intentions, but please remember what I am really asking.

I am trying to identify what type of fan is in the 8800 GT so that I can replace it at low cost.

no can do. any of the three options you listed above will be cheaper and easier. The fan is special order for these coolers and near impossible to find.

installing said fan if you could find it would be another fiasco

Actually, I already figured out how to install the fan. In fact, I rebuilt the fan by hand. However, I can't sell it with a funky looking rebuilt fan (even if it works perfectly). I don't even know what the part is called.

I actually saw a replacement fan on eBay a few days ago, but I assumed at the time they were common and that I could go back to eBay at any time and find one and purchase it. Oops. I was wrong.

congrats on the fixing, but I have never seen a fan selling. Unless it is someone selling the shroud. that one you describe on ebay might have been a once in a lifetime opportunity

IMO its a waste of time and money to repair unless you are going to use it. I just had my old 8800 GTS on ebay for a week at $15 and no bids.

The seller is also lying. That fan does not work in a standard 8800 GT shroud. It works in the larger 8800 GTS 320/640 shrouds.
