Cross Fire or new GPU??

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

Haven't been here in quite a while but I'm keen to upgrade my graphics with BF3 and MW3 now out.

I currently have a 5770 (in my sig rig) and was wondering if i would get better performance from a second one cross fired or a totally new card?

I don't have a preference GPU brand if you have any ideas, i was thinking under $200 if i was getting a new card, and it doesn't have to new I'm happy to purchase a used card if its in full working order.

I run two screens if that changes anything and wish to play all games on high graphics and record with fraps

Thanks in advance,
BOHICA

Get a new GPU, maybe wait and pick up a 6970 open box on newegg. They go for about 277.
I'd wait too the next gen of cards comes out. AMD's 7000 series is supposed to arrive in January so you don't need to wait too long. Crossfire 5770's isn't worth it imo.

^ Most definitely a new GPU. Especially since you can grab a great deal on a 560ti or a 6870. Or spend a little bit more on a open box like Live_free mentioned.

Are there any cards I should be looking at now on forums and ebay and stuff? the 6870 looks nice

Also will my rig be able to handle a new gen GPU? im mainly worried about the Power supply

Look at my sig rig, 700w wouldn't be a problem
You can get a 6950 open box for $180 if you're lucky too, I got one for my friend through ebay

I got two asus 6870's for 114.99 open box at newegg. And they are awesome.

That's what i would do

As others have said, xfire just isn't going to give you the performance needed for BF3.

A few weeks back I was in the same situation as you.

I ended up buying a used card here on OCN.

I got my GTX570 for $245, you might be able to find a better deal though.

You can also get a 6950 2gb which is also a nice card in the $200 range.
