Hi all, I recently bought an EK DCP4.0 and the res that is made to fit on it, after doing all the testing an checking lvl's for the first month I have just let it go as the PC sits under my desk , that is until a mate came around the other day and wanted to have a look at it. Thats when I noticed the lvl was about 1cm from the top which seemed a bit to much for evaporation, ect, so upon closer inspection I noticed a large crack in the side of the res, though no sign of seepage and the res itself sits on the floor of the case on a bottom fan honeycombed cutout. To be on the safe side I drained the res and bought a new one and was amazed at how cracked it was! It wasnt really noticable when filled and fitted to bottom of the case, but when empty and removed I'm amazed it didn't shatter.

Anyway thought I'd post here in case anyone else has had this problem, The bottom thread was never unscrewed since bought, only the top cap removed to fill/ top up, and before anyone say's "overtightened" I restore classic motorcycles so am used to working with delicate aluminium threads and know that if anything the top was left only finger tight, as the case is never moved I didnt see that as an issue. Only thing I could think of was that I'd overfilled it and the pressure some how caused it, though after a google search it seems a bad batch of acrylic will produce this result.

Anyway I have replaced the tube with an EK replacement that is the same as the original and will monitor it closely this time, will report back any probs.

PS. loop was distilled with silver coil and one drop of Mayhems deep blue (the dye to make checking the lvl easier due to case position under desk)
