Maximus IV Extreme-z PCI-e slot question

Thread Starter
My mobos only PCI-e x1 slot gets blocked if I insert my 6990 in the first PCI-e x16 because the gpu takes up two slots so I have to move the GPU to either slot 2, 3 or 4. What slot should I place it in? Slot 1 is the best x16 slot with the max speed but it is the one that I can't use, the third slot is a x16 slot with the speed of a x8 slot, and it goes through the Intel z68 chip, and the second and fourth slots are x16 slots with x16 speed but they go through the NF200 chip. Should I use the one through Z68 or NF200?
