How would I know if my water isn't pumping?

Hi all,
I have a slightly uncertain problem right now, or maybe it's just me worrying for no reason.

I used Mayhem's Aurora Tharsis Red water coolant in my system and from day one of using it I could see this nice swirling effect around the pipes and in the res, but not I see nothing but red water (it gradually disappeared after a few days of using it). I have no gadgets to identify the flow rate of the water at the moment, so other than draining and re-filling the system is there a way of me identifying whether the pump isn't working effectively or not (e.g. CPU temperature indication)?

Many thanks.

If the pump is not working your CPU temperature will obviously be very high. You might want to check that. Also, if you open up your case and touch the tubes, the tubes nearer to the CPU (or whatever heat-producing components you have in your loop) will be hotter than at other areas. You can also touch the radiator and see if its warm.

By the time your rig explodes, you'll know it wasn't running.

But generally speaking, if the temps are decent and WC-like. You're fine.

I see, temps are a little higher than what they were initially if that's any sign. Averages 62-67C instead of 55-60C on Prime95 blend. Is that what I could expect temperatures to be based on my system specification? I think my previous cooling setup (Noctua NH-D14 (air)) was about the average temp I get now.

EDIT: My system spec needs updating lol, should be 1.37v at the current speed stated.

You will instantly know when your pump is not pumping water. Your computer will turn off from the heat. My pump died on me recently, so when I boot up my computer, I watch the little LED temp display on my board go higher and higher until BOOM, shuts off. Basically, no water is running through your loop so nothing is transferring the heat from the CPU to the radiator and out.

As for the swirling effect, I would guess it goes away after the water has had time to settle. So if your PC has not yet turned off, your pump is running. You may also want to put your fingers on the pump to see if there are any kind of vibrations. That's how I check mine sometimes.

Sorry, I can't help with the temps. They do sound a little high but then again you are at 1.37V. I remember my i5 750 at 1.4 being around there. With an RX360 and a CPU only loop, unless you are using low RPM fans and/or ambient temperature is pretty high, they should be a bit lower. This is just my guess though. I wouldn't think it is anything to worry about though.

I see, thanks. I guess the fact my temperatures have gone up slightly is just a natural thing, still I'm suprised I'm near the 70C zone for the voltage and speed I'm running on the CPU, the GPU isn't even watercooled yet, just the CPU. Using a XSPC RS360 watercooling kit and Gelid Extreme thermal paste by the way. Computer hasn't been off since the installation of the watercooling.

I'm wondering if you have some additive (biocide) in your loop that's caused the Tharsis Red to separate? If that's the case it may have gunked up the blocks leading to the increase in temps? It shouldn't separate and I'd contact Mayhem's to find out the problem.
