win 7 and file sharing

Thread Starter
so im trying to properly set up file sharing between 2 of my computers

computer A is a desktop, its got 3 drives that i want full control over from computer B but computer B ONLY, i dont want people that i give network access to to have access to these drives

computer B is a laptop, its got 1 folder read-only for everybody(that was easy enough) but its also got 1 folder that i want full control over from computer A only

Seems like an easy enough task but its not, no matter how hard i try i cant specifically pick out computer A or B to have exclusive access, its everybody or nothing, *** kind of dumb security system is that?

In the settings menu i cant see any other location then local and local users, i heard i need computers hooked up to a domain for them to see eachother but im not about to go and buy a friggin server just to make file sharing between 2 computers easier. There has got to be a reasonable solution to this no?

also homegrouping the 2 and setting full control for authenticated users is also not an option since my laptop travels around a lot and has to join lots of homegroups

I don't think you can add a computer account to the ACL of a computer that isn't part of Active Directory. If you are using a workgroup create a local user account on the other Desktop A with the same username/password as Computer B. In the properties make sure sharing is set to everyone full control and then in the security tab add the user account and set the correct permissions as desired.

This will restrict access based on user and not computer. If you logon with the same user account name on both systems you should already be done.
