Your going to notice immediately that there is a huge difference in clarity, and that sound files of lesser quality will stand out as such when listened to. Your emphasis is more on gaming, and you said that you will be using headphones, with that said, I believe your choice in a sound card to be the best. If for some reason the Titanium does not work out for you, the Xonar lines are fairly impressive as well.

the diference was mind blowing i really wasn't expecting it! as soon as i set it up installed drivers i put on my headphones and launched BF3, spawned on a map and first thing that happened was an Apache taking off and flying over my head, i found my self actually ducking. doh.gif

I can clearly identify the actual location and direction of sounds, also music movies headphone.gif and everything is so clear, even my mic has improved 200% headsetsmiley.png

totally worth the upgrade! gunner2.gif

I have an Asus Xonar DG. After downloading Unified drivers (which include ASIO patched in), I've had little to no problems with the sound card. It produces noticeably better sound than am onboard Realtek ALC892, and can amplify sound.

Edit: Missed a few pages. Lack of relevancy is derp.

For headphones? Absolutely. Or just get a headphone amp for best results.

He already purchased one, he was giving an update on his perception of the onboard vs. dedicated. He is quite happy with his purchase.
