Skyrim Crossfire issues? Complete list of known fix's here! 12.1a and 11.12 CAP2 links inside! - Page 2

Hey!

I downloaded that .dll file, pasted in the Skyrim folder WITH THE GAME RUNNING and immediately saw a performance boost.
I have two 6870s running the latest drivers/cap. V-sync is still on, but I haven't dropped below 60fps in awhile now.

Tested this method for 2x ATI Radeon HD5850 in CrossFireX. Also had around 25 fps with everything maxed out, which is now easily doubled. Thanks for this (temporary) fix, I can recommend it to everyone.

Some more info: In RadeonPro, make a profile for Skyrim. After you have done this, select the profile and go to the 'Tweaks' tab. Under 'Anti-Aliasing Compability', select the Bioshock profile and you're good to go. Please note: changing 'Force CrossfireX Profile' to Bioshock did not fix any issues for me, so you will probably have to fucus on 'Anti-Aliasing Compability'.

Edit: just for fun, I tried this method with the Oblivion profile as well. Gives me comparable results. Quite funny, Skyrim runs better on an Oblivion profile. Anyway, you might want to try this profile if others aren't working for some reason.

Guys test out the RadPro profile of Crysis. I can run this game on Ultra now.

EDIT:
Okay tested it a litle longer but the problem is in Crysis the Framerate isnt really very consistent. So I dunno, I think I will wait for AMD drivers or so.

I used the .DLL fix and my frames doubled with crossfired 5870's. The only thing I noticed is that smoke coming off of enemies after you light them on fire is just big solid black blocks. Renaming tesV.exe to fear.exe also doubles my frames but it isn't as smooth as the .DLL fix.

AMD needs to get its act together. I already see that nVidia has released new drivers. Now Skyrim has crossfire issues as well? I am still waiting for the proper BF3 fixes.

I want to respect AMD, but it always feels like nVidia has this graphics thing down most of the time. At least in regard to drivers. My past history was all nVidia with a change to the 5800 and more recently to the 6900 series. My experience thus far with AMD can be summed up with one word. Drivers.

Not sure but amd have had driver working just fine for BF3 since the game was out, Nvidia got one out yesterday or so and was way late.
sometimes the game developer change something in a patch and it breaks the driver.
writing drivers is a complex issue, especially for the pc and how the game engines is done.

I dont get why people get upset due to the complexity of writing drivers and then testing them.

The 6990 has a unique set of problems that a regular crossfired rig may or may not have. The crossfire issues are well known on BF3. You are absolutely correct in driver programming and the difficulty in testing. Also nVidia was quicker to the punch in fixing more BF3 issues because AMD's 11.10 driver is actually the same as the 11.10 v3 preview. The new nVidia driver is a beta and offers more fixes.

However, the general consensus still stands that nVidia does generally have better drivers. This is from experience with both vendors. Love the avatar!

thank you so much for these fixes. i did them all and now i am running high with crossfire between 40 and 60fps. biggrin.gif
i think i did them all right although its hard to find the skyrim.exe shortcut on desktop when i am using a steam copy (as the steam shortcut doesn't give you any options), but i found the launcher mad a shortcut and changed the compatibility... i think, and also where to put the .dll file was a bit of a guess. could someone confirm how to do this with steam copies (digital download / pre installs).
before i had between 10 and 30fps on both ultra and low so i knew it wasn't my system lol
