Skyrim Crossfire issues? Complete list of known fix's here! 12.1a and 11.12 CAP2 links inside! - Page 8

Hey everybody!

The .dll file worked perfect for me, but I also had the problem with black boxes around fire on NPCs.

However here's how to fix it.

Open Catalyst Control Center
Go to Gaming -> 3D Application Settings
Uncheck (disable) 'Enable Surface Format optimization' under Catalyst A.I.
Enjoy Squarless fire. thumb.gif

EDIT: And yes, I made this account only to tell you how to fix this issue because I know how ******* annoying this was. biggrin.gif

I've been playing around a bit with some of the stuff offered in this thread over the past couple of days now and have now managed to get my FPS from 47FPS to 70FPS in CrossFireX. For comparison (using the exact save used in the below screenshots) single card FPS was 41 FPS.

What I did was replace the atimgpud.dll. file with the atiumdag.dll that you can download in the OP rather than just add it to the Skyrim folder (it doesn't state to remove this in the OP!) as soon as I did that my FPS rocketed. This is by the far the best increase I have come across yet. Better than changing the name of the exe or using Radeon Pro.

Before:
V46a8.jpg

After:
TakEb.jpg

So for anyone whom this doesn't work for make sure to remove the other dll file.

I forgot to add that I had to minimize the game and open it again before I saw any improvements with the radeonpro fix. My fps is around 10-15 if I don't do that. -_-

I fear it'll be some time yet before we even see a cap for Skyrim...if they were close I'm sure they would have just held this otherwise inconsequential update back in order to release it all in one go.

Not happy about it anyway, but hopefully by the time they eventually get great scaling there will be some 3gb texture packs and improved meshes out that require the extra performance biggrin.gif

I disable crossfire and reenter the game and I get 45+ in towns and it's stable.
Dont even get me started on eyefinity that definitly will not work on any setting with crossfire enabled. I can run BF3 on med with 60+ FPS on 64 player maps in eyefinity I should be able to destroy a console game such as skyrim.

This. I had to disable and remove second card to run eyefinity.

Thanks for taking the time to offer a solution to the black square fire issue. Unfortunately (because I have some older GPUs), I don't have that option in the AMD Engine Control Center. Under Catalyst A.I, the only options that I have (with my current settings listed in parentheses) are: Disable Catalyst A.I (enabled/standard), Mipmap Detail Level (High Quality), Wait for vertical refresh (Always On), Adaptive Anti-Aliasing (Enabled/Quality), and OpenGL Settings (Triple Buffering). If anyone knows if any of these options could be changed to get rid of the fire issue I would be very grateful. Thanks again for the advice.

I Press Ctrl+Alt+Del in middle of the game. Then Press Ecs to close it and it will go back to the game and FPS are normal. Problem is every time you load a new area or go inside a new door it goes back to low fps.
