Skyrim Crossfire issues? Complete list of known fix's here! 12.1 Prev OUT! - Page 2

Thank you! The .dll helped greatly.

I've found that hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del once you've loaded up your game, then pressing Escape, enables crossfire for me. I go from ~20% GPU utilisation to over 80% on all 4 GPU's.

DOWNLOAD AT YOUR OWN RISK

This fix has NUMEROUS issues.

1. Causes a BAD firebug on "hurt fire" effect. Meaning any and all fire damage done to you or any NPC's looks like this.
491

2. It actually reduces your specular lighting and sharpens your shadows (Sharpen meaning giving them rougher edges and making them look like boxes)
427

3. It loads shadows in a modular state thus causing the infamous "Purple Trees" and "Blocky Faces" texture bugs.
353

4. It caches shadow and terrain information to a separate file which CAN and usually does overload and cause errors after extended gameplay (4+ hours at a time)

5. Causes brief "Ticks" of frame drops during magic casting, specifically ice and fire.
Spell: Firebolt
Non casting (readied) FPS: 45-55 (Controlled with a 5970x2 v. GTX 460x2)
Casting at NPC FPS: 12-45
Casting at the ground: 22-47

Spell: Frosbite
Non casting (readied) FPS: 47-57 (Controlled with a 5970x2 v. GTX 460x2)
Casting at NPC FPS: 9-39
Casting at the ground: 20-44

6. Armor rotation with this fix, in game and loading screens (modular lighting engine bug 0004F%= error) causes game crashes and even deletion of autosaves due to the separate cache mentioned earlier.

To the OP: Thank you for the fix, it DOES increase the framerate by about 17% on average, but thats not worth the graphical errors and crashes that come along with it. I advise you to remove the links until you can find a working fix or fix the current one.

UPDATE: The Radeon Pro and "Fallout3.exe" fixes report is as follows.

Errors: Small increase in loading time when exiting a building that is located in a city or closed space, caves and dungeons seem unaffected. Usually "Freezes" or ticks for about 1-2 seconds then frames smooth out.

Improvements:
Radeon Pro Fix = 6% increase (4-13 FPS difference from non fixed)
"Fallout3.exe" Fix = 4% increase (2~3-10~11 FPS difference from non fixed)

Both Fixes together:
11-12% increase in performance (6-22 FPS increase in controlled environments)

Tested and controlled with 2x5970 v. 2x GTX460.

You're the only person I know of with this issue, I've been using it perfectly myself.

Sorry you've had issues.. I'll add a warning for sure..

Edited my post reviewing a few more of the fix methods. So far so good with the f3.exe and Radeon pro fixes.

Edited my original post to seem less hostile, I apologize about before.

I appreciate the feedback regardless. It did come of a bit hostile but it's fine. People actually testing the fix's and reporting back is what helps the community. Glad the RP and F3.exe worked to an extent. Any performance is better than none. thumb.gif

So I am admittedly not the most computer savy person in the world... so if that shows through in my post, do not be alarmed. 0.-

I went to the DL link for the 11.11 CAP and Drivers, installed both, restarted my system, but there is almost no change what so ever in performance while Crossfire is running. Am I supposed to do more than just install them?

Also, in your post you refer to the .exe as Skyrim.exe, however my folder contains the TESV.exe instead. Is this simply a difference between the downloaded game client and the hard copy?

Sorry if both of those questions are stupid. ><</div>

I apologize, Skyrim.exe IS TESV.exe

And it appears 11.11 and 11.11 CAP do NOTHING for Skyrim as we expected, this is the latest news.

Still working on Skyrim CAP - definitely aiming to get it released ASAP - upcoming performance driver will include other updates as well
