Im gunna be buying a 850W psu in the next two days or so. Was just wondering what we think of these… They are both 80 plus gold..
But there is a price difference of £20 I want a fully modular PSU, I hate wires being there that I don’t use….

OCZ: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/850w-psu-ocz-technology-zx-series-zx850w-un-modular-92-eff-80-plus-gold-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-quiet-

Corsair: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/850w-psu-corsair-professional-series-gold-850ax-modular-90eff-80-plus-gold-sli-crossfire-eps-12v-qui

You might notice the Corsairs rating is only 2 star….

Anyone have any experience or advice regarding this….

Cheers in advance

I would probably get the Corsair as it is a brand I have always used for PSUs and many people never had any problem with em. OCZ PSUs are good but doesnt have as good a track record as Corsair.

Btw, take a look at the HX 850. Pretty sure it is cheaper, and it is actually Gold efficiency, but advertised as Silver, and is also fully-modular (only the CPU 8pin and mobo 24 pin is attached, but you are going to use them anyway.)

Corsair has been the absolute best power supply I have ever owned and probably be the only power supply my main rigs will ever use.

They have the utmost superb customer support in the business which countless members here can vouch for.

Their products are quality, excellent warrantied, and top performers in their class.

They also pay attention to detail many manufacturers definitely ignore and as always their products always satisfy me.

OCZ does not compare to corsair IMO.

Corsair is awesome. Definately go for that one.

OK

Well both are epic, i've got the corsair purely because I prefer the asthtics of it, but both will do the job brilliantly. biggrin.gif

BTW what are you powering with this PSU. If you go too far under the wattage your PSU becomes inefficient.

I have owned power supplies from both companies. That being said I would lean more towards the Corsair AX850 over OCZ. As it stands I replaced an OCZ power supply in my current rig with a Corsair HX850, and haven't looked back. Plus having a 7yr warranty over a 5yr warranty wouldn't hurt either thumb.gif

Unless you're going to be putting 2 GTX580's in there you don't need 850w. That'll run fine on a 650w PSU.
