Pulled the plug finally on my gaming rig!

Thread Starter
After much research and lurking on these forums, I bit down hard and just bought everything I wanted.

I am still in Afghanistan until early January, which is good because my CPU, monitor, and GPU are on back order. Hopefully they will be shipped and waiting for me when I get home.

I will post pictures of my build log and everything when I get them, but this is just a taste!

CPU - i7-2700k (should tide me over just fine until Ivy Bridge)

Mobo - Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z

CPU Cooler - Corsair H80 (A DH-14 might have been better, but I wanted to clean it up a bit)

RAM - 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600

PSU - Corsair HX 1050 (Overboard for this build, but with my plans to eventually SLI this should work nicely)

Case - Silverstone FT02B-W

GPU - Asus ENGTX580

SSD - Crucial 256GB M4

HHD - 2 x 1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F3s (one media, one backup)

Op Drive - Lightscribe 24x

OS - Windows 7 Pro

Monitor - Asus VG278H (120Mhz of goodness)

Keyboard - Leopold Linear Touch Keyboard (Cherry Red switches)

Mouse - Razer DeathAdder Black /w Razer Vespula Gaming Pad

Speakers - Kilpsch 2.1 ProMedia Wireless

Headset - Sennheiser PC 360

Thanks for all the help, advice, and criticism in support of helping me with this build. Check back for pictures and updates.

Man that makes me jelly smile.gif

One thing, if you plan on upgrading to ivy, it may be worth it to consider getting a 2500k instead. I mean heck, you're only going to be using the cpu for a few months given ivy released q1 2012.

But hey, I'm sure you'll be able to resell the 2700k nicely.

Great build overall though! thumb.gif

That was a hard choice for me, but I wanted the best I could get now. I am sure I can get a great price for the 2700k when I decide to upgrade, too.

Bad news, elitekeyboards.com was out of Filco Linear Touch Keyboards, so I had to "settle" for a Leopold one...
