so is the problem just about when crossfired, if so ill get a 6990s, when you say bottle neck you mean the cpu will be too slow for the gpus?

i realy wont to get this amd rig, ive always been an amd fanboi, but if it realy is that bad i might have to jump ship

oh gaming. I strongly disagree on a bulldozer build. I may have an intel rig but I'm really an amd guy deep down(just got this for a few days). you're really better off with a 1090T than a FX8150 if you're gonna use it in gaming(which will still bottleneck two 6970's) just get a 2500k and call it a day. it pains me to say this but bulldozer isn't really for us gamers. imagine games likes starcraft 2, shogun 2, total war etc which only uses 2 cores. you will be severely cpu bottlenecked with those games

I am an AMD fanboy too. Read my buildlog and you will see. It is sad that these CPU's can't push the current generation GPU's to the max. Imagine when the 7990 comes out! Right now for high-end multiple GPU configurations Intel is the only option. Sad I know.

Look at my username, then look at my current PC. You will bottleneck like hell.

pretty much. the cpu will be holding back the gpu's

just get a 2500k. even amd guys wouldn't disagree about this. don't bother on a 2600k. games don't need hyper-threading. it even lowers performance on some occasions.

ok.. well that sounds like its it for me and amd then, tbh its been in the back of my mind for a while now, but listening to what you guys have said, just confirms it.. hummm i think i just felt a small tier in my eye.

this means im going to have to lern how to overclock all over again, i saw an intel bios the other day, to many options

so what intel chips would you guys recomend, i am a bit of a power freak

oh don't worry about overclocking sandy bridge. it's too easy most people here call it boring.

just got this i7 950 about a week ago, I've been an amd guy for years so overclocking this thing was a new experience for me. too many things to adjust unlike amd just increase the multiplier, vcore voila you're done. afaik it's the same with sandybridge, just adjust the multiplier and vcore. pretty much like amd

get a 2500k. you can overclock it to 4.6-5ghz. depending on the chip.

or if you want the big bro then get a i7 2600k. you wouldn't benefit from hyper-threading though and having it on will only lower your overclock = lower performance in games. your choice thumb.gif

With a large budget in mind I would stay away from BD because of it's weak performance in gaming and with multiple Gpu's. I would wait a week for SB-e 2011 socket to come out with quad channel ram support which would be great for gaming. The new SB-e supports pci-e 3.0 which would increase your gpu peformance even more especially since you want 6990's in a x-fire setup.
